So, if you have six mini-meals or three larger meals, chances are, the metabolic boost you experience will be very similar in both circumstances.

What’s more important, however, is that your meal times work for you. If you’re the type of person who finds eating every three hours a nuisance, don’t.

If, on the other hand, you like the assurance of knowing your next meal is coming soon around the corner, a higher meal frequency is likely a good idea for you.

Focus On Protein

Gram for gram, out of the three major macronutrients, protein is what will speed up the metabolism the fastest, so it’s what you should be concentrating on for much of your meals.

That’s not to say you need to be eating a protein only diet, just that if you want to optimize your metabolic rate and prevent hunger, focusing on these types of foods is a smart move.

Allow Yourself To Cheat Once In A While

Finally, the last thing you should be doing with your fat loss diet is allowing yourself to have some meals that are comprised of your favorite foods.

Studies have demonstrated that actually bumping up your intake of calories after being on a lower calorie approach for some time can actually serve to increase the metabolic rate, helping fat loss to speed up considerably.

If you’ve been on a diet for what seems like forever but aren’t getting the results you’ve had in the past, there is a very good chance that your metabolism is actually functioning slower than before.

When this occurs, weight loss becomes very hard - if not next to impossible.

By working to optimize the hormones in your body such as leptin that help regulate how fast the body is burning fat, you will stand a much better chance of seeing success on your diet.

When these hormones are out of line (as is the case with long-term dieter’s), they really aren’t going to see very good results with any diet program they’re on until they take care of this issue.
